Zama has also written to Coal India to pay an ex-gratia bonus to around 65,000 contractual employees at 8.33% on their salary. Coal India doesn’t pay any bonus to contractual mine workers.
“This bonus scheme depends on a lot of parameters like total production, dispatches, total manpower and others”, said S.Q. Zama, the secretary general at National Mine Workers’ Federation. Follow Informist Officials in Coal India said that the impact of the bonus on the company’s financial health can be mitigated with higher coal sales and an uptick in the e-auctions.
